Summer Time on Clear Lake! July 13, 2020

July 13, Guide report.

Some days are better than others, of course. You know how the old saying goes “You Should Have Been Here Yesterday” believe me, it does exist. Honestly things have been very good considering the hot summers days. The last day I was on the water was July 7, and starting July 14, I’ll be running nonstop. So let’s start with July 7, and work back on this fun story I’m about to tell ya. I hope you Enjoy.
I received this from a father daughter duo after our trip. Kathy asked me to share this: He might have caught the biggest, but I might have caught the most, Happy Father’s Day dad! Only because of Kevin’s 20/20 vision and the ability to know the bobbers going down before anyone else can even find it on the water, may or may not be the reason I caught more than the Don!

I have 20/20 vision???? Good one Kathy lol. Thanks again for the kind words. We had a great time.

July 7,

July 6

I had the privilege of fishing with a father and son who really enjoy time in the boat together. “Honesty this is why I love my job” Many great memories were made and I’m sure there were a couple fish stories told as well.:) We boated a nice limit of eaters, tossed back a lot of Walleyes 12″-13.9″ and had some other good ones we tossed back.

Afternoon of the 6th

Father and Son with some Clear Lake boat time. Thanks again guys and hopefully your trip up north was a success. The afternoon I wanna say we had 23 or so on the clicker kept 4. It was all worth it in the end. Talk about some killer bonding time! Great Job “Big Mac Rapper B!”;)
Dad I’m jealous. Keep that boy loving the outdoors!

July 5 – 3 Hr trip

Now this was a ROWDY bunch. If you were fishing on Clear Lake when these boys were ripping it up you definitely would have known it. BIG FISH ON!! OOOOHH YEAAHHHHHHH!!! haha These guys kept me moving. lol I loved it!!

I have to apologize for not keeping up on the reports. I need to find more time to fire up the laptop instead of just using my phone. I guess I find it easier to use social media for most of my reports. I have been using youtube a lot more and that would be another great source. Here’s the LINK and Please Subscribe! Thank YOU!!

The Walleye bite has been pretty good overall. Live Bait presentaions like casting jigs or using slip bobbers have been good. Macintosh has the cleaning station open so we can clean and bag your fish without trouble.

The Crappie bite is what I’m getting excited for. The Crappies this year are very nice. We have a very healthy year class of 11″ to 13″ fish. I’ve seen a couple over 15.

June 26th Fishing Report

Clear Lake Iowa

I wish I could sit here and tell you that the last few days was on fire but it wasn’t. We had a huge cold front come in a few days ago and the water dropped 11 degrees and shut the bite down. One thing that has helped me become the guide I am today is honesty. 6-24-17 and 6-25-17 were the worst two days I’ve had all year and I really didn’t want to go today but I’m glad I did. I called my customer last night and told him what the bite was like and they decided to stick it out and go fishing anyway despite what I thought. Lonnie and Deb knew the weather was going to be great, so regardless we were going to have a good time.

Today we chased Walleyes and didn’t do to bad. We lost a really nice 20 plus inch fish at the boat and landed some nice eaters with a bonus catfish. haha

The 2016 – 2017 ice season will be ending soon. After this next warm spell the ice fishing on Clear Lake will be pretty much done. We are expecting 50 to 60 degree days this week and unless we get another hard cold snap we will be packing it up early this year. The good news is that we are going to have some killer fishing this spring. Crappies and Walleyes will be the primary target for most of the spring. If you’re looking for a fun day on the water our open water spring fishing trips are some of the best trips all year. We have a large guide staff readily available and we have done corporate trips with as many as 20 boats involved. We also offer guided Muskie Trips. Clear Lake offers some of the best Muskie fishing in Iowa and we love to target them.

Fishing is good!

With the weather being so crazy lately we are very happy with how well the fish have been on the chew. Yellows and Crappies are biting like mad when you can get on the school and an occasional Walleye is usually mixed in.
Its time to start thinking about the Fall Muskie bite. It won’t be long and the fall bite will start to pick up. We have many openings for later in September and Early October. October is usually a great time for Yellows and slab Crappies also. Walleyes should be rocking by then also.

Ice Fishing this year is going to be crazy awesome. Our new bait shop Clear Lake Bait and Tackle will be your best option for ice fishing gear around the Clear Lake area. We will have a great selection of shacks and tackle from all manufacturers. We have started to work on pre orders for ice gear and if there is something you need or would like to have just let us know. Thanks Kp

My In-Store events over the next few weeks

My Schedule:
Dec. 19th and 20th I’ll be at Cabelas in Owatonna Minn. 8 to 2 daily
Jan. 2nd I’ll be at Bass Pro in Altoona Iowa 9 to 2
Jan 8th 9th and 10th I’ll be at the Des Moines Boat and Outdoor Sports Show. (seminars daily and I’ll have a booth) I’ll be doing a drawing for a guided fishing trip so please stop in and get signed up.

This fishing has been very good on Clear Lake but its shore and boat fishing at this time. Once we get ice its going to be lights out!! We have been taking large numbers of reservations because southern Iowa will not have much ice this year. This year like last year we will have 3 guides on Clear Lake so don’t be afraid to give us a call if your interested.

We will also be doing a lot of work at Okoboji this year. The bite at the IGL’S could be record setting!

Its been a good week for reservations. Its funny, I go a week without any then boom 5 or 6 come in two days. I sold 3 gift certificates and 2 reg. bookings yesterday and today. I’ve been also taking reservations for the sleeper house. Its a 8×20 Ice Castle with knotty pine interior, satellite tv, stove, oven, sofa, dinning table and 4 beds. The sleeper runs 200 a week night or 250 a night on weekends and weekends have a two night minimum.

Yesterday Clear Lake was iced over and after all the rain today it opened back up. This early ice bite should be lights out. Most of the fish haven’t been touched in two months and they should be ready to chow down. We are also looking forward to the hot bite at Okoboji this year.
We have holiday gift certificates available by email. These trips go over very well, there is nothing better to give than something that creates awesome memories.

Nov. 3rd Fishing / Deer Hunting

The last coupld of weeks I’ve been deer hunting and it has been awesome. I was very luck and bagged two bucks that both had double split G 2’s.

Back to Fishing!

The bite yesterday was slow at first but we finished strong. We picked up a nice eater Walleye mixed in with the 20 Yellows we kept. This winter is going to be amazing. There will be a killer bite on Clear for Crappie and Yellows with a few Walleye mixed in and the bite on Boji will be fun. We are expecting lots of Perch and Walleye over that way. The guided ice fishing calls have been coming in and things are shaping up well. If your looking for a guided trip this winter give us a call. The Fall Is Still Going Strong

This fall has been a great time on the lake. With ice fishing coming soon we have been working on key locations for Crappie, Walleye, Perch and Yellow Bass. Halloween!

The bite was great last weekend! 6-7-15

The Walleye bite on Clear Lake continued to be great last weekend. The morning bite was much better for us than the evening but both were good. We caught most of the fish on jigs and or slip bobbers.
I have a couple 4 hr spots open in the next few days otherwise we are full until the 29th of June. We are starting to do Muskie trips now and we are also doing some trips on Crystal Lake. The fishing on Crystal is awesome! Crystal is all about panfish, large mouth and Walleye. We have many open spots after the 4th of July. Feel free to call if you have more questions.
