The 2016 – 2017 ice season will be ending soon. After this next warm spell the ice fishing on Clear Lake will be pretty much done. We are expecting 50 to 60 degree days this week and unless we get another hard cold snap we will be packing it up early this year. The good news is that we are going to have some killer fishing this spring. Crappies and Walleyes will be the primary target for most of the spring. If you’re looking for a fun day on the water our open water spring fishing trips are some of the best trips all year. We have a large guide staff readily available and we have done corporate trips with as many as 20 boats involved. We also offer guided Muskie Trips. Clear Lake offers some of the best Muskie fishing in Iowa and we love to target them.
I just want to say thank you for all the support in the 2016 open water season. This year was a pretty well rounded one with many Walleye and Panfish being caught we even got into a good number of Muskie. Clear Lake is really starting to become a premier fishing destination and we are excited for the future. We opened a bait shop in May of 2016 and that has taken off very well. We will be having a Grand Opening Nov. 18 – 20th. Along with our grand opening we will also be having our Ice Season Kick Off. That weekend is going to be something special. We will be doing a live broadcast from 11am to 1pm on Saturday with Jay Brooks and Kiss Country. Over that weekend we will also be having many seminars and product demos to show off the new product for 2017. The Grand Opening is going to be fantastic! We are going to have many door prize drawings over the weekend and you will not want to miss out. Looking forward to a great Ice Season!!!
The fishing has been awesome. Piles of Yellows along with a Walleye or two. The Muskie bite is starting to pick up again with the cooler waters approaching. Ice fishing is right around the corner and we are booking many trips. If your thinking about doing a ice fishing adventure this winter please give us a call. During the winter we target Crappie, Gills, Perch, Walleye, Pike and Yellow Bass. We also have a new Wheel house for rent that will sleep 4 on the ice.
The fishing over the last few days has been great. Lots of nice Crappie and Yellow Bass on Clear, Perch and Gills on West O. and Gills and Crappie on Crystal. We have 3 great bites and we have spots available. We are also doing a guided fishing trip giveaway. To enter the contest please visit Kevan Pauls Guide Service Facebook page. All you have to do is submit a photo and get the most likes and you will win a fully guided fishing trip.
The Yellow Bass fishing is starting to pick up. If we put a little work into it I think we could boat a pile of them. (100Plus) The Muskie fishing is also great. Most trips are landing at least one and some are getting multiple opportunities to put some nice fish in the boat. Mike and His Father Bob (75yr old) both picked up a nice fish on Sunday Night. Photo – Mike with is nice Clear Lake fish.
If Muskie or Yellow Bass fishing has your interest please feel free to shoot me a email or give me a call.
September should be lights out Yellow Bass fishing and we do have some weekend spots available.
The fishing over the last couple of weeks has been great. Lots of Yellow Bass are being caught and also the Muskie are still going good. Most of the Yellows have gone shallow and the Muskie are not far behind. The Walleye bite has remained slow. We have been getting a few pulling live bait and cranks.
The weather is great and so is the fishing. I’ve heard many good reports from labor day weekend. I was in South Dakota catching Jumbo Perch and Top Water Large Mouth Bass. We had a great time but I’m ready to get back on my home water.
I will have my boat back later today or early tomorrow and I can’t wait to get back out and catch some good fish! I do have 1 or 2 spots open for next weekend and some 4 hr or 7 hr slots open within the next 10 days.
Musky, Walleye, and Yellows are the best targets right now.
