With the warmer weather coming we can only think about spring Walleye and Crappie fishing. I have been booking some trips over the last month and I can’t wait to get the boat out. Tomorrow I’m filming another segment of Fishing the Midwest Bob Jensen. We will be targeting Crappie and Yellow Bass on Clear Lake. I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the support its much appreciated. Fishing over the last few days has been good. East Lake was great on Saturday Morning we caught Perch and Yellows and after 11 am we moved to Minni. for some more panfish action. I did get out on Clear today and the Yellows and Crappie are still going good. The Yellows are on Fire!!
The fishing over the last few days has been great. Lots of nice Crappie and Yellow Bass on Clear, Perch and Gills on West O. and Gills and Crappie on Crystal. We have 3 great bites and we have spots available. We are also doing a guided fishing trip giveaway. To enter the contest please visit Kevan Pauls Guide Service Facebook page. All you have to do is submit a photo and get the most likes and you will win a fully guided fishing trip.
Things on Clear are still steady. We have been picking up some nice panfish with a walleye or two mixed in. The Yellows are being caught in 3 to 6 ft in the little lake and the Crappie are starting to make there move to the winter holes. The Muskie fishing has been fair. We have been boating around 1 or 2 per trip.
Its time to start looking at or booking your 2015 ice fishing trip! We have been taking many calls about ice fishing and people have started to book. If your looking at doing a weekend trip this year you should call sooner than later. If your looking at a weekday trip you still have some time yet. This year is going to be a blast!
Over the last few days I can honestly say that we got are butts handed to us. This was the worst weekend I have ever had. The good news is that it can only get better. We did manage to catch a few hogs. I’ll be going back over Wednesday to work on the bite for the upcoming run of trips. I’m going to try a couple different game plans and I do think they will pay off.
Clear Lake has continued to be good for Yellow Bass and Crappie.
Crystal Lake has been a hot spot for Gills and Crappie. Both of those lakes are located in North Central Iowa and a lot of fun to fish.
ICE REPORT!! The ice is great with little to no snow cover. 20 to 24 inches most everywhere.
Hot Bait. Clam Dingle Drop and a Maki Maki Pink.
I spent the day at Bass Pro in Altoona Iowa. The turnout was huge and the people were great. During my seminar we talked about North Iowa Fishing Tactics. We spent some time talking about Clear Lake, Crystal Lake, and the Iowa Great Lakes. I would like to thank everyone that came out today despite the cold weather.
We have a few spots open the week of the new year. If your looking for a fun bite Clear Lake has been pretty good. We have been catching lots of Yellows and some Walleye mixed in. The Yellows are not huge but lots eaters and there is plenty of them to be caught. If you have any questions about these dates give me a call and I can tell ya what we have open. I’m going to Okoboji Thursday I’ll post a new report when I get back.
Tomorrow will be my first day out checking multiple lakes and ponds. We hope to pop a few holes and put some fish on the ice. If all goes well we will be starting the guided ice fishing trips soon. Check back in a couple days and I’ll fill you in on my adventures.
