The 2017/2018 Ice Fishing Season is approaching fast and this year is going to be a lot of fun. We have a few new lakes on the hit list and we can’t wait to get on some hard water. This winter we will have some very good Perch opportunities. Perch have been running 10-14 inches long with most being 11″-12″ We will also have a couple good Walleye lake’s to target this winter. This winter is going to be one of the best ones yet. Just think….. Iowa Fishing – catching Walleyes, Jumbo Perch, Slab Crappies, and Yellow Bass by the buckets. Should be an interesting season.
Book 4 hour or 7 hour guide trips or stay in one of our sleeper houses
Been out all week and each day we are catching some nice Walleye and a bunch of Yellows. This time of the year is hot that’s for sure but the fishing hasn’t slowed much at all. We have trips booked everyday and we stay on top of the fish. If you have interest give me a call and we can talk details. Have a great summer. It’s time to start booking ice fishing trips so start thinking about those. have a good day.
The bite this week has been pretty good. We are not catching the numbers of Walleye we were a month ago but the fishing has been good. We are finding more Yellows on every trip and we still have a some good Walleye spots kicking out some nice ones. We do offer some fishing and tubing packages during the summer so if you want you can fish 2-3 hours and tube for an hour or two. Feel free to call anytime if you have any questions. 641-529-2359
It might be hot but it’s never to early to book an ice fishing trip or sleeper house. We have a dozen in the books already and we get one every week so if you’re after a special weekend this winter make sure to get in the books sooner then later.
I wish I could sit here and tell you that the last few days was on fire but it wasn’t. We had a huge cold front come in a few days ago and the water dropped 11 degrees and shut the bite down. One thing that has helped me become the guide I am today is honesty. 6-24-17 and 6-25-17 were the worst two days I’ve had all year and I really didn’t want to go today but I’m glad I did. I called my customer last night and told him what the bite was like and they decided to stick it out and go fishing anyway despite what I thought. Lonnie and Deb knew the weather was going to be great, so regardless we were going to have a good time.
Today we chased Walleyes and didn’t do to bad. We lost a really nice 20 plus inch fish at the boat and landed some nice eaters with a bonus catfish. haha
Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.
Over the last few days the weather hasn’t been ideal for Walleye fishing but we have managed to put a pattern together that has kept us on some nice fish all week. Today the weather finally broke and the bite was no different and we boated our limit in under one hour. Today the water has started to climb again and I think we are going to see some insane bites over the next couple of weeks. (Walleye and Muskie both)
Walleye Classic Review
This last weekend we fished in the 28th Annual Clear Lake Walleye Classic and with a little luck we pulled out a solid 7th place finish out of 100 boats. It wasn’t as good as our 4th place finish last year but a top 10 is always good. On Saturday of this years tournament we hooked up with a fish right out of the gate that probably went 3 or 4 pounds. It was the 1st fish of the day and it was only 8 feet away hung up on a piece of structure flopping on the surface. Now there was two things that could have happened, one the fish could have come loose so we could boat it or two the line breaks. You can guess what happened. That fish would have put us right around the top but thats fishing. It seems like every tournament many teams have a fish they loose or the big one gets away. Thats fishing!
The guiding has been fantastic this year and I appreciate all the support from you guys. We have 4 guides working trips right now and everyone is on the same page which is a good thing for our guest. We have a few different bites going as we speak and we are working on more everyday. The Crappie made a move out of the shallows and the spawn is pretty much over so we are on the hunt to find their next location.
The Walleye have been going like gang busters and that bite should only get better.
The Muskie should start heating up this week with the warmer water and the Yellows up shallow spawning.
Just a reminder on our trips we do supply everything and we can take anyone fishing regardless of age or disability. We do offer corporate outings as well and we can put together a group of very good local pros and guides that can manage a very large group. On our corporate outings the sky is the limit.
Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or would like to book a trip.
It’s amazing how good the bite is right now. This week has been really good for almost everything. Crappies Walleye Yellow Bass have all been on the chew. We have 4 guides running for us right now and we do have some extra room if your looking for a trip. 4 hr trips are $200 and 7 hr run $300. Muskie trips are a little extra.
We offer shore lunch packages for $25 extra per person. 2 person minimum. Corporate trips are something that we really work hard at. If you’re looking to take out a large number of people with 10 to 20 fishing boats we can make that happen.
Please enjoy some pictures from this week. Thank you
The bite has been unbelievable so far this spring. It’s amazing that the bite is as good as it is despite the cold weather. Next week the weather is finally going to break and I’m sure the fish are going to explode! We have two new guys to the team this year. Kaleb Roth and Bill Bunn both have been doing trips for me this year and they both have been doing a excellent job. If you’re looking for a trip give me a call and we can see if there is a day that works for you. The Walleye Fishing on Clear Lake is at high right now and the Crappie fishing is right there as well. We will also be targeting Perch very soon. The Perch are nice with some 13’s mixed in. Lets get you out on Clear Lake and catch some fish.
The phone has been ringing off the hook! Thank you every one of all the support.
If you’re looking for a fun time to catch a pile of fish the spring has to be one of the best times. The last couple weeks of April and the month of May is my favorite time to guide open water. Usually the trips are Walleye and Crappie but we do target Muskies often as well. This year we have 4 great guides so if your after a weekend day we can make the happen.
Just a reminder that we cater many corporate trips each year and they can very from just the average trip to the luxury style with shore lunch, trophies, lodging and vip pickup from the hotel. We have managed groups as large as 40 people.
It’s time folks spring Walleye and Crappies are right around the corner and we still have plenty of availability for 2017. We will have multiple guide boats on the water this year and we are available for corporate trips if needed. Please call for corporate or multi boat rates. Almost all of our trips we will meet you at our new bait shop on HWY 18 in Clear Lake. If you live on the lake we can pick you up right from your dock. Please feel free to call 641-529-2359 and ask for Kevan if you have any questions. Thank You
2016 Walleyes May
The 2016 – 2017 ice season will be ending soon. After this next warm spell the ice fishing on Clear Lake will be pretty much done. We are expecting 50 to 60 degree days this week and unless we get another hard cold snap we will be packing it up early this year. The good news is that we are going to have some killer fishing this spring. Crappies and Walleyes will be the primary target for most of the spring. If you’re looking for a fun day on the water our open water spring fishing trips are some of the best trips all year. We have a large guide staff readily available and we have done corporate trips with as many as 20 boats involved. We also offer guided Muskie Trips. Clear Lake offers some of the best Muskie fishing in Iowa and we love to target them.
