April 2022 Guided Fishing Opportunities

We are pretty much ready to roll and able to book trips. This year we will also be offering semi-guided Wader Fishing Classes and our famous Ride and Cast trips where we jump in your boat and help you work on anything you need.

If this year is anything like this winter we are in for a treat. The lake is at a unbelievable stage right now. Crappies are at a 10 YR High and the Walleye Fishing IS and Has Been Crazy Good for months now. Although I say crazy good YES sometimes it’s down but overall the lake is in great shape and now with the new protected slot the quality is getting better daily. This year we will have multiple guides operating on Clear Lake and our new guide Mike M. Will be operating on both Clear Lake and the Cedar River in a Jet Boat. If you have never been in a jet boat you have to try it once.  Plus you will have a opportunity to catch world class Smallmouth Bass and beautiful River Walleyes. The river does offer more favorable harvest limits on Walleyes too.  The DNR will be starting to fill net the Walleyes this weekend if the weather cooperates. Like years past I’ve ask to volunteer and help out. Great chance to learn more about the lake and the future of our fishery.

If you would like to book a trip half days are $375* for 1 to 2 people and $75 per extra person. Full day trips are $575* for the first 2 people and $75 per extra.  Depending on future gas prices some of these prices may change.

Wader fishing trips 5 hrs $400 1-2 guest.
RIDE AND CAST $275 3-4  hrs

Appreciate all the continued support and we’re looking forward to the new opportunities we may have to “Create Memories One Cast At A Time”

Thank You, FISH-On and FISH SAFE!

JAN 28TH. SLEEPERS & FISHING REPORT

The bite has been great overall. Sleepers are booked full for the weekends. Most Thursdays and Mondays are booked as well. The Perch bite has been good. Sorting is required to catch a nicer limit. Walleyes have been fair at sunrise and sunset. Yellows are being caught in the basin and also in the little lake. Little lake fish are being caught off the dredge cuts. 13-18 ft. Ice conditions are great. Little to no snow and the ice is 14-16″

7-23-20 Fishing

Over the last couple trips we have started to find a few more fish. We have seen more yellows showing up in their typical areas. Today we boated a couple 20″ Walleyes along with a few smaller ones. The gills have been showing up everywhere and it’s amazing the amount of panfish we have in this lake. I’m not sure why we hardly fish them but I’m about to start.  I’m really looking forward to the next few outings to see where this bite goes. I’ll do another report Monday and we should have a much better handle on the bite and the direction that this bite is moving.

Summer Time on Clear Lake! July 13, 2020

July 13, Guide report.

Some days are better than others, of course. You know how the old saying goes “You Should Have Been Here Yesterday” believe me, it does exist.  Honestly things have been very good considering the hot summers days. The last day I was on the water was July 7, and starting July 14, I’ll be running nonstop. So let’s start with July 7, and work back on this fun story I’m about to tell ya. I hope you Enjoy.
I received this from a father daughter duo after our trip. Kathy asked me to share this: He might have caught the biggest, but I might have caught the most, Happy Father’s Day dad! Only because of Kevin’s 20/20 vision and the ability to know the bobbers going down before anyone else can even find it on the water, may or may not be the reason I caught more than the Don!

I have 20/20 vision???? Good one Kathy lol.  Thanks again for the kind words. We had a great time.

The next few pics show Kathy and her father Don and a few other days before I left town.

July  6

I had the privilege of fishing with a father and son who really enjoy time in the boat together. “Honesty this is why I love my job”  Many great memories were made and I’m sure there  were a couple fish stories told as well.:)  We boated a nice limit of eaters, tossed back a lot of Walleyes 12″-13.9″ and had some other good ones we tossed back.

Afternoon of the 6th

Father and Son with some Clear Lake boat time.  Thanks again guys and hopefully your trip up north was a success. The afternoon I wanna say we had 23 or so on the clicker kept 4. It was all worth it in the end. Talk about some killer bonding time!  Great Job “Big Mac Rapper B!”;)
Dad I’m jealous. Keep that boy loving the outdoors!

July 5  – 3 Hr trip

Now this was a ROWDY bunch. If you were fishing on Clear Lake when these boys were ripping it up you definitely would have known it. BIG FISH ON!!  OOOOHH YEAAHHHHHHH!!! haha  These guys kept me moving. lol I loved it!!

I have to apologize for not keeping up on the reports. I need to find more time to fire up the laptop instead of just using my phone. I guess I find it easier to use social media for most of my reports. I have been using youtube a lot more and that would be another great source. Here’s the LINK and Please Subscribe! Thank YOU!!

Clear Lake Iowa Fishing 4/30

Walleye and Crappie

Water Temp 55 – 58
4-30-2020

The Walleye bite has been pretty good overall. Live Bait presentaions like casting jigs or using slip bobbers have been good. Macintosh has the cleaning station open so we can clean and bag your fish without trouble.

The Crappie bite is what I’m getting excited for. The Crappies this year are very nice. We have a very healthy year class of 11″ to 13″ fish. I’ve seen a couple over 15.

*We spray the boat down after every trip
*We Clean and Bag Your Fish
*All boat ramps are open
*All gear provided
*Please Bring me snacks  haha!

Great Day on the water!

April Fishing

April 2020 Clear Lake Iowa

This year has been something special to say the least. We have been fishing Clear Lake Iowa for the last 3 weeks and the bite has been great. The Walleyes are spawning and the Crappies are wanting to come in on the warmer days. The whole Corona thing has put a wrench in the works but we have been doing our due diligence before and after each trip. We spray the boat down with Isopropyl   all the time and I’ve been doing by best to keep our family safe as well. If you want to get out of the house give me a call. 641-529-2359

The Guide Service is separate from our bait shop so please call the number above.

Summer of 2019

The bite has been great most of the summer. We have only seen a couple days were the bite was off. Walleyes have been the primary target with some crappies and perch mixed in. This fall is shaping up to be one of the best we’ve seen in a while. I would like to thank everyone for all the support this year. If you hired us this year you were apart of a record setting spring. Not only we’ve done more guide trips so far this year but we’ve landed some of the largest Walleyes as well. Clear Lake has been really doing well and the fish numbers are amazing. We are really looking forward to winter. With the way things are going Clear will be a top destination this coming ice season. This winter we will have 4 sleeper houses on the lake and multiple guides running trips.

We would also like to mention that we host many corporate events. We can handle groups of all sizes big or small. Please call for more details.

Have a great day and tight lines.

Clear Lake Report

Thanks for visiting our website. If you haven’t checked out or FACEBOOK page please make sure and do so. Our facebook page is Kevan Pauls Guide Service and Clear Lake Bait and Tackle

Here are a few pics from the last couple weeks. The young man holding the big cat is not our client but a very good friend.  What a great accomplishment for him to land this hog.  I also shared another big flathead and she was a client of ours.  That fish was 42″ 35 pounds. The Crappie fishing has been one of our strongest bites over the last week.  The walleye fishing has been good but its best early in the morning. If you want walleyes we need to start at 5:30/6am.

We have started booking ice fishing trips and the sleeper house rentals will be in full force this winter. This ice season we will have multiple sleepers for rent, so please call for more details.
